 About Candice Bryan

  • A pioneering Health Equity Strategist, Candice Bryan brings two decades of research and practice exploring how cultural identity, belonging, and leisure shape engagement with health and wellbeing services.
  • Candice helps public health leaders, voluntary organisations and founders understand how belonging is not just a social value but a strategic design principle that determines whether communities engage with products, services, and spaces.

  • Her academic research identified how structural barriers, representation, and cultural identity shape leisure participation — insights that now inform how health, wellness, and leisure services can be redesigned for inclusion.

  • Through her work with Noire Wellness and public health partners, Candice has designed culturally grounded programmes that translate community insight into practical interventions.

  • Her work has been recognised with a Highly Commended honour at the 2025 Black Healthcare Awards, recognition from the NIHR and the Local Government Association, and being named a Black History Hero by London Sport.

  • Candice brings a unique perspective that reframes leisure not as recreation, but as a critical space where identity, belonging, and wellbeing intersect.  Her masterclass, The Business of Belonging, helps leaders, founders, and organisations design spaces, services, and experiences where communities feel seen, welcomed, and able to thrive.
