About Dr. Colin Cooper

  • Dr. Colin Cooper is a practitioner, guide, and scholar devoted to the intersection of professional excellence and spiritual restoration. An Industrial–Organizational Psychologist with more than 25 years of experience, she is the founder/CEO of Focus Hu-Energy Consulting, LLC, where she supports professionals, leaders and organizations to strengthen purpose/mission culture, wellbeing,  and organizational health.
  • Dr. Cooper is a retired tenured professor from Bowie State University, Bowie, MD and currently serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is also a Scholar in Residence with Rutgers University’s Organization Trauma Intervention Studies Lab (OTIS).

  • Her work bridges academic rigor with practical intervention—helping leaders build environments where truth can be spoken, dignity is protected, and accountability includes repair.

  • In addition to her consulting and academic roles, Dr. Cooper is a Reiki Master Teacher, Certified Hypnotherapist, and Transformational Coach. Her spiritual grounding includes a daily Buddhist chanting practice, self-Reiki, meditation and visualization that supports her commitment to embodied leadership, inner alignment, sustainable self-love, community support and world peace.

  • Through her Heart-Centered Orientation (HCO) framework and her forthcoming book, Hu Energy Advantage, Dr. Cooper offers a roadmap for Blacks and BIPOC women to reclaim inner authority, lead from spiritual principles, and build success without self-abandonment. Her core message is simple: when we align our inner rhythm with our outer work, we don’t just survive—we restore, recharge, and rise.
