 About Ecy Femi King

  • Ecy Femi King is a data scientist at McGraw Hill, an award-winning comic book author, and the pioneer of Fractal Gridding storytelling — a visual thinking method that helps people turn big ideas and complex goals into clear, actionable pathways through narrative.
  • She earned her BS with Distinction in Symbolic Systems (Human-Centered AI) and her MS in Computer Science (HCI) from Stanford University, where her interdisciplinary work blended technology, psychology, design, and education.



  • She is the author of the award-winning “Bit by Bit: A Graphic Introduction to Computer Science” (Stanford University Press), a rare undergraduate project that went on to receive wide recognition, including a Fast Company 2024 Student Innovation by Design Award.

  • Ecy has created educational comics in collaboration with CMU CS Academy and currently serves as a Harvard GSE Digital Thriving Fellow. A multi-year Stanford class president and recipient of the Stanford Award of Excellence and the Cadence Women in Tech Scholarship, she’s known for pairing leadership with creativity and educational impact. She has delivered presentations and workshops around the world on Fractal Gridding, visual thinking, learning, art, inspiration, and joy — helping learners and leaders alike build clarity and confidence through visual systems.
