 About Prof Laura Serrant 

  • Professor Laura Serrant CBE is a multi-award-winning global specialist in diversity, inclusion, leadership, and health policy, with more than 40 years’ experience spanning practice, research, and system-level change.
  • She is the founder of Laura Serrant Limited, delivering coaching, speaking, and consultancy services to organisations seeking to strengthen inclusive leadership, professional effectiveness, and sustainable impact.
  • Recognised as the 8th most influential Black person in Britain by Powerful Media UK, Professor Serrant became a Freeman of the City of London in 2024 and was awarded a CBE by King Charles II for services to leadership and health policy.
  • She is one of the few Black female research professors in the UK and has published over 100 academic articles, contributing extensively to national and international policy, service improvement, and inequalities research.
  • She developed The Silences Framework (Serrant-Green, 2010), a widely used evidence-based model that underpins organisational approaches to equity, voice, and inclusion across public and private sectors in the UK and internationally.
  • Building on this work, she later created The Lioness Effect™, a strategic leadership approach designed to drive business impact while optimising individual and collective professional effectiveness.
  • Professor Serrant currently serves as Chair of Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and has held influential national roles, including Chair of the Chief Nursing Officer for England’s BME Strategic Advisory Group. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, the Queen’s Nursing Institute, the American Academy of Nursing, and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
  • Her leadership has been recognised through multiple Health Service Journal Top 50 UK Leader awards, including Inspirational Woman in Healthcare, BME Pioneer, and Clinical Leader.
