But I kept seeking. Therapy became a lifeline, helping me understand that much of my pain was unaddressed and unexpressed and needed a way to be alchemized. Still, I knew therapy alone wasn't enough. I returned to yoga, a practice that helped me reconnect with my body in my early 20’s, and started exploring other healing arts modalities like Reiki and breathwork. 

In 2018, despite years of progress, I faced a devastating breakdown, leading me to check into a psychiatric facility. That experience, though painful, became a turning point. I realized I was burned out from the weight of unaddressed trauma, from hustle culture, and from trying to prove my worth.

In that moment, I made the bold decision to shift my life with a purpose. I left my job, enrolled in yoga teacher training, and began to deepen my understanding of mindfulness and the healing arts. I also became a Reiki Master Teacher and Somatic breath worker Facilitator. Through these practices, I reconnected with the spiritual gifts of my youth, and more importantly, I began helping others find healing through their own journeys.

I eventually became known in my community as a mental health crusader, facilitating safe spaces for NYC public school students, speaking at events, an indie short film and launching the podcast Me 2 Radio Zone, where my co-host and I shared raw conversations about mental health, poetry, and shared wellness resources to our listeners. As I continued my work, I understood that my true calling was to help others heal—not just through words, but through creative expression, energy work, community, and a holistic approach to wellness. In 2021, I survived a severe car accident, and in 2024, I faced the loss of my beloved husband. These experiences deepened my understanding of grief , healing and rest. I learned that the journey will always be about evolution, but that it is very important to sit with our pain, loving ourselves through it, and allowing the process to unfold with the support of a solid village and practitioners. 

As I experienced many dark night of the Soul I reclaimed my ancestral wisdom through a transformative trip to Cuba in late 2024, where I participated in a farming and sustainability program as part of a my journey as a Spiritual Herablist Apprentice. This Soul shifting trip brought me back to my Afro-Cuban roots and reminded me that joy and hope is always possible.

Joy and hope in my essence and in community, nature, and ancestral practices. This trip was the healing balm I needed as now a bereaved spouse who happens to be a healer, and it reignited my mission: to guide others toward mindful living and the interconnectedness of the human spirit.
